The ministry stated, in a statement, that German Eurofighter Typhoon fighters and Romanian F-16 fighter jets… It intervened urgently this morning to track down the two drones, hours after the incident, which brought back the spotlight on the increasing air dangers resulting from the ongoing war in Ukraine.

 

According to the details reported by the Romanian News Agency, one of the two drones returned to Ukrainian airspace, while the second was found after it crashed in the town of Boyasht, located about 70 miles from the border with Ukraine.

 

Romanian Defense Minister Ionut Musteanu said that the German pilots received an order to shoot down the second drone, but “it is likely that it crashed spontaneously, perhaps due to running out of fuel.”

 

According to a report by the Romanian News Agency, this incident is the third hacking in one week and the first to be monitored during daylight hours, and it is also the thirteenth time that Romania has recorded a hacking.

 

This development comes as the countries of NATO’s eastern wing are strengthening their defensive measures in anticipation of the expansion of air threats, which are becoming increasingly frequent near the alliance’s borders.
