Gunmen kidnap students in Nigeria

Posted in Nigeriaabout the kidnapping of high school students while they were on their way to take university admission exams, and other transportation passengers in Benue Governorate in central Nigeria.

The Governor of Benue Governorate explained late yesterday evening that the attack occurred on Makurdi Otukpo Road, describing it as a cowardly act. He did not mention the number of kidnappers, but local media reported that 17 students were missing.

The security services began Nigerian search and rescue operations to find the kidnapped people.

Armed groups frequently target transportation passengers, students, and residents in rural areas in Nigeria.
