"Economic integration" It seeks to strengthen the legislative environment for commercial companies in the country

Abu Dhabi, 27 November / WAM / The Economic Integration Committee, during its seventh meeting of 2025, chaired by His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism, and in the presence of Their Excellencies the Directors General of the Economic Development Departments in the seven emirates of the country, reviewed the details of the new companies law and updated articles, aimed at developing the business environment in the country and enhancing the growth process of the national economy.

During the meeting, which was held via video conference, the committee reviewed a number of topics, most notably the efforts to develop the legislative environment for commercial companies, in a way that supports the requirements of investment and entrepreneurship. In this context, it reviewed the details of the new commercial companies law and its updated articles.

It also reviewed the country’s preparations for hosting the “Global Forum for Digital Trade and Digital Platforms” in cooperation with the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL).

His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri stressed that the UAE, thanks to the vision and directives of its wise leadership, continues to consolidate its position as a leading economic model based on innovation, modern legislation, and an integrated digital infrastructure.

He explained that national efforts are continuing to enhance the competitiveness of the business and investment environment in the country, noting that the updates witnessed by the new commercial companies law aim to keep pace with the latest transformations and changes taking place in the business environment in accordance with international best practices, and to provide the legislative system for companies in the country with regulatory and legal mechanisms that contribute to raising their competitiveness, sustainability and growth of their activities, which contributes to consolidating the position of the UAE as a leading destination for investment, entrepreneurship and the new economy, and in line with the objectives of “We Are the Emirates.” 2031” in building a competitive and diversified economy.

His Excellency said that the committee is keen to integrate federal and local efforts and support the coordination of economic policies, ensuring the continued building of a flexible and attractive business environment that keeps pace with changes, and contributes to improving the country’s attractiveness for quality investments and enhancing the competitiveness of the national economy.

He added that in this context, the committee continues to work to enhance awareness in the private sector, develop advanced supervisory policies in business sectors and specified non-financial professions, expand the scope of risk assessment, and modernize procedures for organizing beneficial ownership data, within an integrated institutional approach that keeps pace with international best practices.

In detail, the committee discussed efforts to provide a clear and flexible legislative environment for commercial companies through the new law and the amendments it contains to a number of articles related to ownership, establishment procedures, rights of partners, organization of professional companies, holding companies, and others.

The committee developed a plan to finalize the executive regulations related to the law according to a specific timetable, ensuring a smooth and effective implementation of its provisions during the next stage.

The committee also followed the most prominent developments in the UAE’s hosting of the Global Forum on Digital Trade and Digital Platforms, which is organized by the Ministry of Economy and Tourism in cooperation with the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) on December 8 and 9, and reviewed the importance of this event, which brings together global policymakers in the field of international trade law, and consolidates the country’s position as a leading global destination in developing legislation for the new economy, especially in the field of digital trade.

The committee discussed the country’s efforts to develop the digital infrastructure for economic data, link federal and local authorities, and ensure that any operational or regulatory challenges are addressed proactively, in addition to enhancing cooperation and knowledge exchange regionally and internationally and highlighting the importance of the UAE’s experience in developing trade legislation through modern technologies, and making it a global model in setting a new framework for the governance of trade via digital platforms.

The meeting reviewed the developments in the efforts of the Ministry and its partners to raise the awareness of workers in the non-financial sectors of the requirements for combating money laundering and combating the financing of terrorism, and to enable them to adopt the best international practices in the areas of due diligence, examining sanctions, and reporting suspicious transactions, which contributes to enhancing compliance and combating illicit financial practices, ensuring compliance with national legislation and relevant international standards, and supporting the efficiency of joint procedures between regulatory and supervisory bodies.
