The UAE participates in the meetings of the Executive Council of Habitat in Nairobi
Nairobi, 27 November / WAM / His Excellency Engineer Mohammed Al Mansouri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure for Infrastructure and Transport Affairs, headed the UAE delegation participating in the meetings of the Executive Board of the United Nations Human Settlements Program (Habitat) in its third session, at the United Nations headquarters in Nairobi.
This participation comes as the country’s first after the UAE won the presidency of the General Assembly of the United Nations Human Settlements Program “Habitat” and membership in the Executive Council of the program for the year 2025, in confirmation of the country’s growing international presence and its consolidation of a pivotal role in supporting the housing and sustainable urban development system globally.
His Excellency Mohammed Al Mansouri stressed that the UAE’s presidency of Habitat represents a double responsibility and an important opportunity to enhance the country’s role in shaping the future of urban planning and housing at the global level, and enabling the adoption of innovative solutions that enhance the quality of life and keep pace with accelerating urban transformations.
He said: “During its presidency of Habitat, the UAE will work to support innovation and modern technologies in developing cities, and to strengthen international efforts aimed at building a more comprehensive and sustainable urban system, in line with the goals of sustainable development and the new urban agenda.”
His Excellency the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure for Infrastructure and Transport Affairs explained that the UAE will continue to work with its international partners and UN institutions to support the habitat system, and lead qualitative initiatives that promote sustainable urban development, and support the construction of future cities capable of keeping pace with challenges.
