Trump calls on Powell to cut rates “immediately” and not wait for the Fed meeting


The US President demanded, Donald Trump Today, Thursday, the Federal Reserve (the US central bank) decided to reduce interest rates "immediately"criticizing the head of the bank, Jerome Powell, for delaying until the next monetary policy meeting of the central bank. Trump wrote on his platform "Truth Social": "Where is the long-delayed Chairman of the Federal Reserve, Jerome Powell, today? He should have cut interest rates immediately, not waited for the next meeting!". These statements are Trump’s latest criticism of the leadership of the Federal Reserve, as the administration seeks to ease monetary policy to support economic growth and Financial markets. For his part, Powell has emphasized on more than one occasion that the central bank’s decisions are based on incoming economic data, and are usually made during regular meetings of the Federal Open Market Committee. The Federal Reserve has maintained a cautious stance on cutting interest rates in recent months, as officials monitor inflation trends, labor market conditions, and financial stability risks. Trump has repeatedly criticized the Powellon monetary policy, noting that the Federal Reserve has been slow to respond by cutting interest rates.
