This came during the twenty-first general conference of under the name "Global Industry Summit"which was hosted by the Kingdom during the period from November 23 to 27, 2025, with the participation of ministers, decision makers, representatives of international organizations and leaders of the industrial sector from various countries of the world.
International Women in Industry
This decision is a prominent global milestone that aims to dedicate the first international event concerned with the role of women in advancing comprehensive and sustainable industrial development.
Minister Al Khareef stressed that this accreditation reflects a growing global awareness of the importance of empowering women and promoting Its pioneering role in industrial transformation, noting that the Kingdom, based on the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, continues to work to expand women’s participation in leading innovation, advanced industries, research and development, and industrial entrepreneurship.

The announcement came during a "Global Industry Summit 2025" On the day dedicated to women’s empowerment under the slogan: "Promoting recognition of the role of women in industry: the next step"
The participating delegations stressed that women are a key element in building advanced supply chains, advancing technical transformation, and enhancing the competitiveness of industrial economies.
Celebrating Women’s Achievements
UNIDO explained that designating an international day for women in industry aims to provide an annual global framework to celebrate women’s achievements, evaluate the progress achieved, exchange the best experiences, and support policies and initiatives that enhance their participation across industrial value chains. It also motivates governments, the private sector and institutions. The academy seeks to expand opportunities for women in high-value industrial fields.
The adoption date is April 21 "International Day of Women in Industry" One of the most prominent outcomes of the twenty-first General Conference of UNIDO, where member states confirmed that this step represents important progress towards building more comprehensive, innovative and ready industrial systems for a global future based on knowledge, technology and competitiveness.
