Launching a program to license 500 Emirati tax agents within 3 years

The Federal Tax Authority and the New Economy Academy announced the start of training for 50 citizens within the first batch of the “Emirati Tax Agent” program, which aims to empower Emirati competencies and qualify a new generation of certified tax agents.

The program comes within the national campaign “The UAE is the Entrepreneurial Capital of the World,” launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, “may God protect him,” with the aim of consolidating the UAE’s position as a global destination for entrepreneurship.

The program aims to license 500 Emirati tax agents within 3 years as part of an intensive training program to practice the activity of an accredited tax agent within two specialized diplomas, namely the “Value Added Tax Diploma” and the “Corporate Tax Diploma.”

25 citizens participate in the “Value Added Tax Diploma”, which deals with the legal and regulatory framework for tax, registration mechanisms and preparing tax returns, dealing with accounting records and compliance with tax obligations, in addition to professional applications and case studies.
The “Corporate Tax Diploma” includes 25 participants, and reviews the basics of the corporate and business tax system in the Emirates, registration procedures, tax disclosures and returns, calculating accounting profit and income subject to corporate tax, as well as applied exercises and realistic case studies.


Strategic partnership
Abdulaziz Mohammed Al Mulla, Director General of the Federal Tax Authority, confirmed that the start of actual training for those affiliated with the first session of the “Emirati Tax Agent Program” constitutes an important step that contributes to increasing reliance on Emirati competencies in the tax system, noting that the program aims to empower and qualify a new generation of certified tax agents, by providing integrated training programs dedicated to citizens to obtain specialized tax diplomas.

He said: “The memorandum of understanding signed between the Federal Tax Authority and the New Economy Academy strengthens the frameworks of cooperation and strategic partnership between the two sides, to expand specialized training and encourage continuous learning to enhance tax culture, in line with the authority’s plans to maintain a tax environment that encourages compliance according to the best standards of governance and transparency. This step also opens new horizons for cooperation to hone the professional competencies of citizens working in the tax field.” and related sectors in general.

Al-Mulla added: “The Authority is keen to give priority to encouraging citizens to work as accredited tax agents by providing them with the necessary facilities and support to work in this promising sector, as actual professional practice over the past years has proven that citizens are able to excel and interact with the tax and financial work system with great efficiency.”

Advanced training programs
In turn, Dr. Leila Faridoun, CEO of the New Economy Academy, confirmed that the “Emirati Tax Agent” program embodies the Academy’s commitment to developing the skills of national competencies and preparing them for the requirements of the modern economy, by providing advanced training programs that contribute to qualifying a new generation of specialists in the tax sector, in a way that enhances the sustainability of the national economy and supports the country’s global competitiveness.

She added: “The program focuses on building a strong knowledge base for trainees, enabling them to deal with professional challenges with high efficiency, and developing creative solutions for tax practices, which establishes a culture of excellence among Emirati cadres, and supports the country’s vision of building a sustainable economy based on knowledge and innovation.”


Advanced skills
The “Emirati Tax Agent” program aims to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the laws and legislation of value-added tax and corporate tax in the UAE, while enabling them to qualify and register as accredited tax agents with the Federal Tax Authority.

Through the program, trainees acquire advanced skills in marketing and promoting tax agency services, in addition to refining their analytical and practical abilities to provide tax advice in accordance with the highest international standards, which qualifies them to pass professional exams to obtain official recognition as tax agents.

The program opens wide opportunities for graduates to work in the public and private sectors, whether by registering as certified tax agents, or by providing tax consultations to companies and institutions.
