Firdaus Orchestra sings a song "Zayed and Rashid" in "Art house" Coinciding with the 54th Union Day celebrations

Dubai, 28th November / WAM / As part of the National Month activities, and coinciding with the 54th Union Day celebrations, on Tuesday, the 2nd of December, the Firdaus Women’s Orchestra will perform a concert at the “Art House” in Expo City Dubai, in cooperation between Brand Dubai, the creative arm of the Dubai Government Media Office – the body supervising the National Month activities – and Expo City Dubai.
Brand Dubai had released the song “Zayed and Rashid” in November of last year, as part of the first edition of the “#ZayedRashid” campaign, which was launched under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, to celebrate the memory of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, “may God bless them,” and in gratitude for the contributions they gave to the nation. The pillars they established from which the state embarked on a blessed development process that has brought the state today to the highest ranks in various global competitiveness indices.
The orchestra, led by the international Lebanese maestro Harout Vazlian, sings the song “Zayed and Rashid”, the excerpts of which were selected from the poem “The People and the Leader” from the poetry of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him. It is an inspiring poetic epic documenting the virtues of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, “May God rest their souls.” And their role in the establishment of the Union State. The orchestra will also perform a number of pieces taken from the musical heritage of the UAE.
Through the diversity of the cultural backgrounds of the female musicians, the Firdaus Orchestra reflects the cosmopolitan nature of Dubai and highlights the image of its society open to various cultures and its status as a center for creativity and talent from various parts of the world, as 25 female musicians from around the world will participate in presenting this musical evening of a national character at the “House of Art”, the multidisciplinary cultural centre, which aims to support the arts and contribute to enriching artistic expression and creative narratives, drawing its concept from the heritage and cultural fabric of the UAE and the Arabian Gulf region.
On this occasion, Shaima Al Suwaidi, Director of Brand Dubai, confirmed that this high-level artistic work comes within the framework of celebrating the memory of the Founding Fathers and the contributions made by Sheikh Zayed and Sheikh Rashid, may God Almighty have mercy on them, and the foundations and values they laid from which the UAE’s journey began, and the qualitative achievements it has yielded, including Expo City, which stands as a witness to the forward-looking vision for the future, and the ability of the people of the Emirates to transform great ambitions into an inspiring reality.
Shaima Al Suwaidi expressed Brand Dubai’s pride in the fruitful cooperation with Expo City Dubai in celebrating the precious national occasions during the National Month, stressing that the various activities included within its framework, especially the “Zayed and Rashid” campaign, aim to highlight the extent of belonging to the nation and gratitude to the founding fathers who laid the first building blocks in the structure of the Union and were the basis for its renaissance, which is increasingly developing day after day.
In turn, Amina Taher, a member of the organizing committee of the Zayed and Rashid Campaign, said that Brand Dubai’s cooperation with the Firdaus Orchestra and the selection of the “House of Art” in Expo City Dubai to present this creative musical show reflects Dubai’s connection to authentic Emirati culture, and the principles and values on which the UAE was founded, and from which it set off towards internationalism, as Expo City Dubai is an important evidence of the pioneering position that the UAE and Dubai have reached in building bridges of communication between peoples for a better future for all. Its foundation is sustainability, understanding and cooperation.
