With support from the real estate sector, a 40% increase in demand for “sustainable building” products locally

Officials in institutions supplying building and construction supplies and materials revealed that the UAE markets are witnessing an increase in demand for sustainable building supplies, since the beginning of the current year 2025, at rates ranging between 30 and 40%, compared to the same period last year.

They explained to “Emirates Today” – on the sidelines of participation in the activities of the “Big Five 2025 Exhibition”, which specializes in the building and construction sector, and which recently concluded its activities at the Dubai World Trade Center – that this growth in building supplies that are compatible with sustainability and environmental standards is due to the increase in real estate projects and villas, pointing out that the exhibition witnessed the expansion of companies in offering innovative sustainable products for real estate projects, the most prominent of which are water tanks with environmentally friendly, anti-bacterial materials, and reduce internal water temperatures by seven degrees. Celsius about the external temperature, and products allow choosing the water flow level and desired temperatures before use.

In detail, the service engineer at Al-Mahrain Building Materials Trading Company, Hirshad Al-Yamuknath, said, “Since the beginning of the current year 2025, the UAE markets have witnessed a remarkable increase in demand for building and construction supplies that keep up with sustainability and environmental standards, at rates exceeding 40%, compared to last year.”

He added to “Emirates Today”: “The growth in demand comes with the increase in the number of villas and real estate projects that are concerned with energy conservation and building according to green policies,” pointing out that “the demand included various products, the most prominent of which are water heaters that rely on solar energy, and are compatible with the rationalization of water use.”

For his part, Nizar Abdel Qader, Commercial and Construction Technology Director at GF Cruise Piping Systems, said, “The significant increase in the launch of new real estate projects in the UAE markets, including a large number of projects that are based on environmentally friendly green concepts, and the increased awareness among investors and real estate developers, has greatly supported the rates of demand for sustainable building supplies.”

He added: “Local and international companies, in turn, have increased the supply of these types of products, in a way that meets the needs of customers in the country’s markets,” noting that “a large proportion of these supplies have become manufactured in the local market, which has kept pace with the increase in demand for these products.” He pointed out that the “Big Five” platforms witnessed the launch of innovative and sustainable building products, in a way that indicates the extent of the growth in demand for these products and interest in them, noting that the company launched the “i-Shower” product, which determines the temperature and percentage Pre-flow water, saving water and energy consumption.

In the same context, the sales official at Al-Bassam Factories, Mohammed Khaled, agreed that “local markets have witnessed, since the beginning of this year, an increase in demand for sustainable building supplies by rates exceeding 40% compared to last year, according to market indicators and contracts.”

He explained that “the increase in demand came with the support of the growth of real estate and construction projects concerned with these requirements, and the high levels of awareness among investors and real estate developers about the feasibility of these products, in addition to the expansion of companies in offering these products to meet the demand for them.” He stressed that the growth in demand for these innovative and sustainable products stimulated their introduction at the “Big Five” exhibition, and at rates greater than the previous session.

He stated, “The company introduced, for example, sustainable water tanks of large sizes, made of environmentally friendly materials, and with technologies that reduce the internal water temperature by seven degrees Celsius, compared to the external temperature, as well as innovative anti-bacterial systems.”


Green policies

International sales officer at Eagle Expansion Vessel, Sofia Kartal, said, “The rates of increase in demand in the UAE markets for sustainable building and construction supplies ranged between 30 and 40% during the current year, compared to last year, according to market contracts.” It expected a growth in demand for these products, with the policies adopted by the state in supporting green policies in projects.
