Princess Noura University launches "The Saudi Francophone meeting"

The College of Languages, represented by the Translation Department, launched Princess Noura bint Abdulrahman University, today, Monday, December 1, 2025 AD, “The Francophone Saudi Meeting,” under the patronage of the Minister of Education, Professor Yousef bin Abdullah Al-Benyan.

An elite group of Saudi and Francophone academics and experts from various sectors participated in the meeting, in the presence of French speakers, those interested in it, and university employees, at the Conference and Seminar Center. At the university.

Intercultural dialogue

The meeting was held under the slogan “” with the aim of highlighting the cultural diversity represented by Francophonie, promoting dialogue between cultures, and highlighting the role of the French language in the Kingdom as a bridge for global communication, and a supporter of education, culture and business in line with Saudi Vision 2030, in addition to enhancing the presence of linguistic diversity in Saudi universities.

The university’s acting president, Dr. Fawzia bint Sulaiman Al-Amro, said in her speech on this occasion: “The meeting The Saudi Francophone is considered a knowledge handshake between language, culture, and the future, and from this vision, Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University – the largest university for girls of its kind in the world – continues its national role in preparing effective and influential female competencies in a multilingual and multicultural world, and capable of translating the homeland to the world in the language of the future. Linguistics is a competitive advantage in the era of the knowledge economy, and Francophonie is one of the gateways to this diversity. Through our programs in languages and translation, led by the Translation Department and the French Language Programme, we are working to make the university a platform for global knowledge dialogue in the fields of education, higher training and scientific research, and to enhance knowledge economic cooperation in a way that supports Saudi Arabia’s presence on the global map. The meeting included visual presentations about the journey and contributions of the Saudis. Pioneering Francophones, readings of Saudi and Francophone poetry, and inspiring stories of French-speaking Saudis who have excelled in several fields. The meeting is also accompanied by a visual arts exhibition showcasing works of art from various French-speaking countries, a corner for tasting, corners for reading and publishing houses.

The meeting represented an interactive platform that brings together different cultures, and opens new horizons for communication between experts and specialists. And those interested in the French language, which contributes to the review of common values and future visions, and enhances cultural exchange and international communication.
