Diabate and Al-Ahly… heated negotiations amid raising the contract termination price

The negotiations for the transfer of Ivorian striker Ibrahim Yalatif Diabate to Al-Ahly club witnessed a new turn, after tensions escalated between the player and the club’s management due to the delay in finalizing the deal.

The negotiations seemed to be settled four weeks ago, but Al-Ahly’s sudden slowdown angered Diabate, who was keen to complete his transfer quickly.

This delay forced Al-Ahly’s management to hold an urgent meeting via video conference on Sunday. Sunday, with the sporting director of the Swedish club Gais, the player’s owner. During the meeting, the Gais club representative announced an increase in the price of terminating the player’s contract from $1.2 million to $2 million, with a 10% resale clause, based on the clubs’ increased interest in the Ivorian striker and transfer market trends.

Al-Ahly responded with two offers: the first for $1.5 million, with 750,000 paid upon signing and the second payment before the end of March, and the second for $2 million in three installments, with the resale clause cancelled. The sporting director of the Gais Club requested that the final response be postponed after consulting with the club’s management.

Despite the tensions, the basic terms of Diabate’s contract with Al-Ahly have not changed, as the 25-year-old player is expected to sign a four-and-a-half-year contract, which includes a signing bonus of $900,000 in the first season, and an annual increase of $100,000, bringing the total salary to $1.2 million in the final year.

According to Africa Foot’s sources, Several Gulf clubs and Lens have shown tangible interest in the player, but Al-Ahly remains the most serious at the present time, amid pressure from the club management to avoid the collapse of the deal.
