Al Ain defeats Al Wasl twice and regains the top spot in the league

Al Ain regained the lead in the Professional Football League, after defeating its guest, Al Wasl, with two unanswered goals, in the match that was held this Thursday evening at Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium in the 19th round of the competition, in front of about seven thousand spectators.

The home team did not give their guest long time to get into the atmosphere of the match, as Matias Palacios opened the scoring just two minutes after the start, with a powerful long-range shot that landed in the left corner of goalkeeper Khaled Al-Sanani’s goal.

Al-Wasl’s troubles increased when defender Yahya bin Khaleq added the second goal for Al-Ain, after receiving the ball inside the penalty area without defensive supervision, and shot it to the right of the goalkeeper “20”.

The danger of Al-Wasl appeared in the last minutes of the first half, when Siaka Sidiye fired a low shot from outside the penalty area, but goalkeeper Khaled Issa blocked it.

Al Ain’s goalkeeper came back to save his goal again with a brilliant save from a free kick executed by Nicolas Jimenez, turning it into a corner kick.

The visitors’ attempts continued in the second half, the most dangerous of which was Miguel Borja’s shot, which Khaled Issa deflected with his fingertips into a corner kick.

With this victory, Al Ain raised its score to 47 points at the top of the standings, one point ahead of Shabab Al Ahly, while Al Wasl remained in fifth place after its score froze at 30 points.
