In cooperation with "UNCTAD"..Saudi Arabia leads the global e-commerce measurement file

Confirmed placeholder Vision 2030 led the Kingdom to make continuous leaps in building a competitive and diversified economy that consolidates its economic position globally.
Al-Mutairi noted during her participation in a working group session "UNCTAD" Meaning of measuring the value of Electronic Commerce (TG-eCOM), which is hosted by the World Trade Organization (WTO), indicated that the Kingdom is working with UNCTAD to build a comprehensive framework to measure all forms of local and international e-commerce in the Kingdom, between companies and consumers (B2C), between companies (B2B), and between companies and the government sector (B2G), in order to ensure a full understanding of the value of this rapidly growing sector, as the size of the e-commerce market in the Kingdom is expected to reach about 15.4 billion US dollars by the end of 2025.
The session witnessed the participation of the Deputy Director-General of the World Trade Organization, Johanna Hill, and the Head of the Department of E-Commerce and the Digital Economy in "UNCTAD" Torbjørn Fredriksson, moderated by Head of Digital Economy Measurement and Chief Data Scientist at "UNCTAD" Dr. Serivan Witchaedit.
E-commerce Volume
Fredriksson said that cooperation with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will enable the e-commerce measurement team (TG-eCOM) to "UNCTAD"in measuring the volume of e-commerce globally in a correct way, and starting the experiment with the Kingdom and collecting the necessary information, by benefiting from its experience in the rapid and effective implementation of economic reforms, will allow us to come up with a model that all countries will benefit from in measuring e-commerce, and we appreciate the Kingdom being the first country to work with us on this experiment, and to lead this transformation globally.
Al-Mutairi stated that presenting this model in the World Trade Organization enables countries to keep pace with the radical transformation that e-commerce is bringing about in the global economy, and to invest in the enormous opportunities in sector, in addition to providing new growth incentives for small and medium-sized companies, and enhancing the inclusiveness of all regions and population groups.
She pointed out that keeping pace with the growth of the sector requires working on strong systems that ensure smooth transactions and efficient logistical services, in addition to building reliable digital payment systems, at a time when digital demand represents about 20% of global retail activity, and the size of the e-commerce market is expected to reach 3.6 trillion US dollars by the end of 2025.

The Kingdom had signed with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development "UNCTAD" Agreement to measure e-commerce and digital commerce; With the aim of strengthening the Kingdom’s leadership in the digital field, and building e-commerce and digital policies, which contribute to enhancing its global competitiveness.
It is noteworthy that the National Competitiveness Center has effective partnerships with international organizations; To benefit from its practices and experiences in the areas of improving and developing the Kingdom’s competitiveness.
It is considered "UNCTAD" One of the Centre’s most prominent partners, the international organization provides support in policy making related to all aspects of development.
