UAE government ministers praise the launch of the Tahnoun bin Zayed Scholarship for Excellence in Artificial Intelligence to support 350 bachelor’s students over six years

Dubai, 4 December / WAM / A number of UAE government ministers praised the official launch of the Tahnoun bin Zayed Scholarship for Excellence in Artificial Intelligence, which aims to support 350 bachelor’s students over a period of six years, enabling a new generation of experts and pioneers of innovation in the fields of artificial intelligence.

The ministers stressed that the initiative represents a strategic step that strengthens the UAE’s position as a global center for knowledge and advanced technology, and opens broad horizons for young people to actively participate in building the economy of the future.

Her Excellency Sarah bint Youssef Al Amiri, Minister of Education, said: The launch of the Tahnoun bin Zayed Scholarship for Excellence in Artificial Intelligence comes to support distinguished undergraduate students at the Mohammed bin Zayed University for Artificial Intelligence, starting from the academic year 2025-2026, which is the same time in which the study of the artificial intelligence curriculum begins, in the country’s schools at all levels of study, to confirm that the UAE is continuing strongly to strengthen its leadership position in designing an integrated educational model based on innovation and advanced technology, and represents a foundation for building a society. My knowledge is capable of designing and anticipating the future, through a generation armed with the latest technical skills and tools that qualify it to keep pace with its times, and possess the most appropriate solutions to face the challenges of the future, transform them into qualitative opportunities, and contribute effectively and innovatively to all development efforts.

Her Excellency added: The presence of a scholarship targeting those who excel in the field of artificial intelligence constitutes an important incentive for students at all levels to direct more interest in this promising field, and a clear message that the future will belong to those who possess the tools, skills, and passion not only to acquire advanced qualitative knowledge, but to master it, and to excel and innovate in it in order to seize the enormous opportunities it provides.

For his part, His Excellency Dr. Abdul Rahman Al Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation and Acting Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, praised the launch of the Tahnoon bin Zayed Scholarship for Excellence in Artificial Intelligence, noting that it reflects the strategic importance that the state attaches to developing national capabilities in this vital field as it is one of the basic engines for creating the future.

His Excellency said: Investing in young minds represents an essential pillar in the efforts aimed at supplying the labor market with high-level competencies who possess specialized skills capable of leading qualitative projects in the fields of artificial intelligence, in a way that improves institutional performance, raises the efficiency of the outputs of strategic sectors, and supports the achievement of national goals.

His Excellency Dr. Al Awar added: The higher education system in the country continues to work on preparing national cadres capable of keeping pace with the rapid technological transformations, by aligning academic specializations with the needs of the labor market, and providing students with the skills required by vital economic sectors. The Tahnoon bin Zayed Excellence Grant represents an example of complementary partnerships between national institutions, to ensure the development of educational programs that serve national priorities, most notably the “We Are the Emirates 2031” vision and the UAE Centennial 2071.

For his part, His Excellency Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, the Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications, said: With the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, “may God protect him,” and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, the UAE is establishing a leading global model in the field of artificial intelligence, through the formulation of a comprehensive national strategy that has succeeded in adopting it as a pivotal and main engine for comprehensive and sustainable development, which focuses on quality standards. Excellence on the one hand, and speed and proactiveness on the other.

His Excellency added: The launch of the Tahnoun bin Zayed Scholarship for Excellence in Artificial Intelligence enhances the support of distinguished students and the creation of a new generation of artificial intelligence leaders, in order to consolidate the presence of this field as a vital and attractive field within academic disciplines, at the level of students, scholars, graduates and researchers, and to enhance the role of the fields of digital economy and advanced technology in shaping today’s economy and doubling its pivotal contribution to the economy of the future.
