Nahyan bin Mubarak witnesses the graduation of the fifth military training course for the “Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Initiative to Empower Women in Peace and Security”

Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, witnessed the graduation ceremony of the fifth military training course for the “Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Initiative to Empower Women in Peace and Security,” which is organized by the General Women’s Union in cooperation with the Ministry of Defense and the United Nations Women, under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak “Mother of the Emirates,” President of the General Women’s Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme President of the Family Development Foundation.

The ceremony was held at the “Erth” Hotel in Abu Dhabi, where participants from 18 countries graduated and completed an integrated training program aimed at preparing them to contribute effectively in the fields of peace, security and development.

The ceremony was attended by Major General Ishaq Saleh Al Balushi, Assistant Chief of Staff for Joint Capabilities, Noura Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Secretary General of the General Women’s Union, Brigadier General Afraa Saeed Al Falasi, Commander of the Khawla Bint Al Azwar Military School, Dr. Moza Al Shehhi, Director of the UN Women Liaison Office for the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, and a number of representatives of government agencies and partner institutions, who praised the pioneering role of the initiative in preparing women cadres capable of making an effective contribution in the areas of peace and security on the ground. Regional and international levels.

The graduation of this class coincides with the twenty-fifth anniversary of the issuance of Security Council Resolution No. 1325, in confirmation of the UAE’s commitment to supporting the women, peace and security agenda locally and internationally.

Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan gave a speech during the ceremony, in which he expressed his pride in this event. He said at the beginning of his speech: I extend my warmest regards to you, and I am pleased to meet today, at the closing ceremony of the fifth training session, from the initiative of Her Highness “Mother of the Emirates”, the virtuous mother Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, to empower women in the fields of peacekeeping and security.

He added: We celebrate together the graduates of this course, who came to Abu Dhabi from 18 brotherly and friendly countries, learning together, in a wonderful gathering that embodies the highest values ​​of communication, peace, and joint work across borders and distances, in order to achieve the restoration of the earth, human safety, the security of societies, and the advancement of humanity throughout the entire world.

He stressed that the UAE, under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, “may God protect him,” places the human being at the heart of its development path, and seeks to empower and prepare him to fully contribute to his homeland and the world, noting that the international cooperation witnessed in this training program represents a pioneering model in supporting the principles of peace, security, and rapprochement between countries and peoples.

He extended his sincere thanks and gratitude to the initiator of the initiative, Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, stressing that her initiative reflects a firm conviction of the importance of the vital role of women in maintaining peace and security, and that deepening this role contributes to creating a more peaceful and stable world.

He said: Together, we are proud of the vision of Her Highness the “Mother of the Emirates” for the role of women in defending the nation and promoting peace throughout it, and her keenness to adopt all means that lead to the empowerment of women everywhere, stressing that Her Highness represents an inspiring role model and a unique model of giving and national and humanitarian work.

He concluded his speech by saying: I am honored to convey to all of you the greetings of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, “Mother of the Emirates,” and to present to you her generous speech that she kindly addressed to you, and I am pleased to recite it to you on behalf of Her Highness.

Her Highness said: I feel very pleased, as I observe the achievements of these graduates, and their resolve and determination to serve their countries. Her Highness noted that she feels proud as she watches the results of this course in achieving everything we aspire to in terms of growth in thought, self-confidence, awareness of responsibility, and eagerness to protect their countries, in addition to investing their positive capabilities in the service of peace and development.

Her Highness continued, saying: I extend my greetings and congratulations to all the graduates, and today you should be proud of the good training you have achieved, and the pivotal position of women that has emerged in maintaining peace and security in the homeland and the world. Her Highness expressed her pride in their period of stay in Abu Dhabi and in the good friendships they formed, hoping that these relationships will flourish after the end of the course.

Her Highness said that she is certain that each of you graduates will prove their abilities and competence in serving society and that your homelands will be more peaceful and secure thanks to your dedication and efforts. She prayed to God Almighty to grant the graduates success and achieve success in serving their homelands and strengthening their positive relations with the countries of the world.

Her Highness continued, saying: I also extend my greetings and congratulations to the officers and teachers at the Khawla Bint Al Azwar Military School for their fruitful efforts with the Ministry of Defense, the United Nations Liaison Office, and the General Women’s Union in implementing this course.

Her Highness stressed that what has been achieved is a celebration of their efforts and their commitment to providing a training environment based on excellence and distinction that celebrates diversity and pluralism. Her Highness pointed to the prestigious status achieved by the Khawla Bint Al Azwar Military School and the continuous progress it achieves.

Her Highness concluded her speech by saying: I repeat my happiness with this celebration, and I pray to God Almighty for all of you to succeed and succeed.

Noura Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Secretary General of the General Women’s Union, said that the graduation of the fifth batch of the program represents a new stage in the leadership process led by the UAE in the field of empowering women, and consolidating their effective presence in peace and development efforts. We at the General Women’s Union, and under the directives and vision of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, “Mother of the Emirates”, continue to work to enhance women’s capabilities and enable them to play a pivotal role in building societies and sustaining security and stability, and this program embodies a cooperative model. Globally, it combines Emirati expertise with international support and strategic partnership with the Ministry of Defense, and prepares women cadres capable of making a positive impact in their countries and the world.”

While the Khawla Bint Al-Azwar Military School said: During the program period, the trainees reflected the highest levels of discipline, commitment and seriousness, which confirms their readiness to carry out their tasks efficiently and competently. This diversity of participants embodies the depth of cooperation between our brotherly and friendly countries, and reflects our shared belief in the importance of unifying efforts and enhancing capabilities in the areas of security and stability.

For her part, Dr. Moza Al Shehhi, Director of the UN Women Liaison Office for the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, said: The established partnership between UN Women and the UAE reflects an advanced model in supporting the women, peace and security agenda. This cooperation was strengthened by the launch of the Strategic Partnership Framework (2024-2027). Today, we are taking a new step to achieve the strategic goals of Security Council Resolution 1325, with the support of the wise leadership of the UAE and within the vision of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak. “Mother of the Emirates” and I congratulate the graduates who will join the graduates of the previous batches, thanks to the high capabilities and readiness they have acquired, to contribute to supporting peace around the world.

The fifth batch included trainees from the Emirates, Egypt, Angola, Yemen, Gambia, Sierra Leone, Chad, Liberia, Mali, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Kosovo, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Tanzania, Uganda, Paraguay, and Eswatini.
