Al-Sharaa reveals Saudi Arabia’s gift to the Umayyad Mosque on the occasion of “Liberation Day”

Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa revealed a gift he received from Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on the occasion of “Liberation Day.”
Al-Sharaa announced that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman presented him with a piece of the curtain of the Holy Kaaba bearing the holy verse: “And when We made the House a place of rest for the people and a place of safety, and take from the place of Abraham a place of prayer,” to be placed in the Umayyad Mosque in the capital, Damascus.
The Syrian President led the worshipers at the Umayyad Mosque and delivered a speech wearing the same uniform that he wore on the day he arrived in Damascus after the overthrow of the regime of former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on December 8, 2024, and at that time he delivered a sermon from the same pulpit.
Earlier last October, Al-Sharaa issued a presidential decree stipulating that December 8 of each year, the date of the fall of the Assad regime in Syria, is an official holiday called “Liberation Day.”
