The lion steps into the stadiums…the official mascot of the African Cup of Nations appears in public

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) raised the curtain on the official mascot of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Morocco, which bore the name “Lion,” in direct reference to the Atlantic lion, which is one of the strongest symbols rooted in Moroccan identity.
According to CAF, the design of the mascot was inspired by the Atlantic lion as a symbol of strength, pride and authenticity, values that unite Moroccans and Africans alike.
The choice of the name “Asad,” which is derived from the Arabic word “lion,” expresses a strong, unified personality capable of creating an emotional bond with audiences of all ages.
“Asad” was presented in a friendly and young image, with energetic features that reflect the spirit of creativity and diversity in Africa.
Its visual identity was designed in harmony with the official identity of the Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025, giving the tournament a strong, modern and easy-to-remember image.
