Al Ain Municipality and Eagle Hills launch a new development phase for Al Ain Oasis

ABU DHABI, 9 December / WAM / Eagle Hills, the real estate investment and development company based in Abu Dhabi, in cooperation with the Al Ain City Municipality, announced the launch of a new development phase for Al Ain Oasis, one of the most prominent cultural sites registered with UNESCO.

The project aims to reintroduce the oasis as a tourist and cultural destination throughout the year, through experiences and facilities that reflect its historical character and highlight its environmental value and authentic Emirati heritage.

The oasis is located in the heart of Al Ain, surrounded by its sprawling palm trees and the ancient aflaj system that reflects the region’s agricultural history. The project presents a renewed vision that enhances visitors’ experience through an elevated walkway that provides panoramic views of the palm trees and oasis paths, while preserving the working farms below the walkway.

The project presents a renewed vision for Al Ain Oasis, offering a unique visitor experience that combines food and lifestyle, with a focus on hospitality concepts and distinct experiences. The area includes a selection of luxury cafes and restaurants, many of which are opening their doors for the first time in Al Ain. Thanks to the harmony between taste, place and lifestyle, the destination provides a seamless experience for visitors, as outdoor dining sessions overlooking the green nature blend with carefully designed social spaces to enhance the feeling of belonging and the spirit of discovery.

This new chapter was developed in close cooperation with the Al Ain Municipality, embodying a common vision based on protecting the city’s cultural heritage and enhancing its attractiveness to its residents and visitors. A new observation tower has also been constructed offering expansive views of the oasis, enhancing its position as one of the most important natural landmarks in Al Ain.

Eagle Hills was keen to develop a comprehensive night experience by adding evening lighting and designated walking paths after sunset, which makes visiting the oasis enjoyable for families and tourists throughout the day. At night, the oasis transforms into an immersive environment in which soft lighting blends with natural elements, providing visitors with a journey rich in contemplation and discovery.

The project includes the development of three new gardens – the Reflection Garden, the Ripple Garden, and the Mist Garden – designed to provide shaded spaces for community activities and relaxation. The developments also include new seating areas, swings and stopping points that allow visitors to interact with nature and enjoy the beauty of palm trees and the surrounding landscape.

Mohammed Al Abbar, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Eagle Hills, said: “Al Ain Oasis is one of the most important natural and cultural treasures in the country, and we are proud to launch a new development phase that deepens the visitors’ experience and allows them to explore the beauty of the oasis in contemporary ways, and strengthens its position as a leading cultural destination.”

Rashid Musabah Al-Manai, Director General of Al Ain City Municipality, said: “The Al Ain Oasis project constitutes an important milestone in highlighting the historical and environmental value of the oasis and enhancing its presence as a leading tourist and cultural destination. He explained that the municipality is keen to cooperate with leading companies such as Eagle Hills to highlight strategic projects and support its development vision, stressing its commitment to developing innovative facilities that provide an integrated experience that reflects the authenticity of the heritage identity and the beauty of the natural environment in the Al Ain region.”

The development of Al Ain Oasis comes in line with Abu Dhabi Tourism Strategy 2030, which aims to attract about 520,000 visitors for hotel accommodation in the region by 2030, and to strengthen its position as a major destination for cultural, health and adventure tourism.

Al Ain Oasis still plays a pivotal role in shaping the city’s identity through its traditional farms and the unique historical falaj system. With this new phase of development, the oasis is preparing to welcome visitors with an integrated experience that celebrates heritage, nature and the local environment, and revives its relationship with the community and visitors alike.
