Cooperation between the University of Sharjah and"LG Nova"

Sharjah, 9 December / WAM / The University of Sharjah and LG Nova, the innovative arm of LG Electronics, in cooperation with Orion Capital, discussed ways to enhance the strategic partnership and the possibility of establishing a new innovation center within the university, which aims to support the development of emerging technologies, accelerate business, and link them to the company’s innovation ecosystem in Silicon Valley and the state of West Virginia in the United States.
This came during a coordination meeting held by His Excellency Dr. Essam El-Din Ajami, Rector of the University, with a delegation from LG Nova and Orion Capital, where Ajami stressed that cooperation with leading international companies is consistent with the university’s directions in building an integrated system linking academic research and the industrial sector.
He said: “We believe in the importance of developing an environment that allows our students and researchers to transform their ideas into realistic innovations in the fields of artificial intelligence, digital health, sustainable energy, and others, in a way that supports the knowledge economy and contributes to consolidating Sharjah’s position as a regional center for innovation, in accordance with the UAE’s vision towards a sustainable technological and creative future.”
Ali Diallo, founder and managing partner of Aurion Capital, stressed the importance of strengthening the regional approach in supporting sustainable innovation through investment in modern technologies, noting that the University of Sharjah is a pivotal partner in building an integrated innovation network in the region, adding that the proposed innovation center will form a platform that combines the university’s academic and research expertise and the global innovation system of LG Nova.
The two sides agreed to continue working on developing a comprehensive vision for the proposed center and to launch joint research and training initiatives in areas of mutual interest.
The meeting was attended by His Excellency Ambassador Abdul Razzaq Muhammad Hadi Al-Awadi, Senior Partner at United Global Capital and member of the Board of Advisors at Aurion Capital, Professor Dr. Muammar Battayeb, Vice President of the University for Scientific Research and Postgraduate Studies, Dr. Salah Taher Al-Hajj, Vice President of the University for Community Affairs, and a number of deans of colleges and directors of research institutes, along with a delegation from LG Nova, which included Joshua de France, Vice President and Head of Business Incubators and Project Building, and Josh Sim, Director Investments, Bashir Dayan, President of United Global Capital, Lisa Amani, Vice President, and Rummana Dada, Partner at Aurion Capital.
