The UAE and Russia are discussing enhancing cooperation in the new economy sectors

Dubai, December 10 / WAM / His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism, confirmed that the UAE and the Russian Federation share strategic relations based on mutual understanding and common economic interests.
This came during the meetings of the twelfth session of the Joint Emirati-Russian Governmental Committee for Trade, Economic and Technical Cooperation, which was held today in Dubai and chaired by His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri. His Excellency Anton Alikhanov, Russian Minister of Industry and Trade, in the presence of representatives of relevant governmental and private agencies from both sides.
His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq said: “The current session of the committee represents a new step towards building fruitful partnerships between the business communities and the private sector in the two countries, enhancing cooperation and providing support to entrepreneurs from both sides, in a way that contributes to the growth and sustainability of their economies. In our cooperation, we focus on the new economy sectors and priority areas, in a way that achieves mutual benefit for the two countries.”
His Excellency pointed out the importance of the role played by the committee in exploring the promising opportunities that characterize the business environment in the two countries, reviewing the capabilities provided by the business environment in the UAE, which include flexible economic laws that allow 100% foreign ownership of companies, and providing an advanced business climate that allows more than 2,000 economic activities.
The committee’s program included discussing action plans and mechanisms for cooperation in areas such as investment, energy, industry and innovation, food security and agriculture, education, transportation and logistics services, tourism, sports and culture, environmental protection, health care, and several other topics.
The two sides agreed to continue joint efforts to develop new mechanisms for economic cooperation in priority sectors, and to provide support to entrepreneurs from both sides, in a way that contributes to advancing the path of economic cooperation between the two countries to broader horizons.
