Health reports have warned against sharing eye cosmetics, as it contributes to the transmission of bacteria and viruses and increases the risk of conjunctivitis and eyelid inflammation, especially in beauty salons that use shared products.

Regarding permanent makeup procedures, specialists pointed out the possibility of infection or allergic reactions as a result of ink or non-sterile tools, in addition to the possibility of loss of eyelashes and the formation of wounds or crusts on the eyelid.
Warnings also include using an eyelash curler after mascara, which may lead to breakage of the eyelashes, as well as skin irritation due to false eyelashes or scratching the cornea when installed incorrectly.
The American Ophthalmological Association also stressed the necessity of replacing eye makeup every four months to avoid the proliferation of bacteria after the effectiveness of the preservatives has ended.
With regard to contact lenses, a recent study showed the presence of harmful microorganisms inside the lenses of many users, warning against dangerous practices such as swimming or showering while wearing them, or reusing the solution without sterilizing the box. Experts believe that these habits may lead to serious infections that may threaten sight.
Doctors stress the necessity of cleaning lenses daily, avoiding sleeping with them, applying them before makeup, and removing them after cleaning the face.
Eye beautification specialists have also warned against sleeping with makeup on, as it contains substances that may cause irritation and dark circles if left on for long periods.
