Stores compete by extending “White Friday” offers to increase sales

Consumers said that many stores have recently extended “White Friday” offers in various sectors, such as furniture, clothing, and shoes, whether inside commercial centers or in stores in foreign markets, for longer periods than usual compared to previous years.

They assured Emirates Today that this step gave them more opportunities to benefit from the discounts, which ranged between 25 and 70%, especially since many families prefer to shop through frequent visits to “malls.”

For their part, officials at sales outlets said that this trend is driven by increased competition among stores and the desire to increase sales during a period of great momentum in the markets, as a result of the increase in tourist activity and the coincidence of the holiday seasons, which reinforces the stores’ tendency to prolong the duration of unusual offers.

In detail, consumer Jamal Amer said that he noticed during the recent period that a number of stores, whether inside or outside malls, extended “White Friday” offers, indicating that this is unusual, but it provides families with greater opportunities to shop comfortably, and at different periods.

As for consumer Hazem Kamal, he said that he was surprised by the continued discounts on clothes, shoes, furnishings and furniture at rates ranging between 25 and 70%, considering this a positive phenomenon that gives the consumer wide options.

Consumer Hoda Nasser stated that extending the offers for longer periods provides a greater opportunity for families to shop at different times, especially with many people preferring to make multiple visits to malls, stressing that extending the offers is much better than limiting the offers to limited days.

For his part, sales official at a retail outlet, Dilip Vishal, said that extending the “White Friday” sales in various sectors is due to the stores’ desire to maintain the momentum of demand and attract more consumers, especially in light of the increase in tourist traffic during the current holiday season.

Sales official at a furniture store, Ricky Knighten, said that the increased competitiveness and high demand by shoppers had prompted many stores to extend their “White Friday” offers in an unusual manner, with the aim of increasing sales and strengthening their market shares before the end of the year.

A sales official at a clothing store, Muhammad Idris, said that the markets are witnessing remarkable activity during this period as a result of the school vacation and holiday seasons, in addition to the increasing number of tourists, which has encouraged stores to extend their “White Friday” offers. He pointed out that this trend comes in light of the strong competitiveness witnessed in the retail sector, and the stores’ efforts to increase their sales and market shares.
