Abu Dhabi, 13 March / WAM / The General Authority of Civil Aviation has confirmed that air traffic in the UAE is witnessing a gradual return to its normal operational rates, after the country’s success in dealing professionally with the exceptional circumstances and developments that the region witnessed during the last period, through thoughtful operational and regulatory procedures that preserved the safety of travelers and the continuity of air traffic.
His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Civil Aviation Authority, said that the UAE, thanks to the directives of the wise leadership, dealt with this stage according to a responsible approach that puts human safety at the top of priorities, while maintaining the continuity of the aviation sector in a way that meets the needs of travelers.
His Excellency added: The safety of passengers, pilots, aircraft crews, and all workers in the aviation sector remains the absolute priority in all decisions related to the airspace, and despite the exceptional circumstances that the region has witnessed during the past days, the UAE has been keen to manage air traffic in a balanced manner by operating limited flights through approved emergency routes, ensuring the continuity of travel in accordance with the highest safety standards.
His Excellency pointed out that the operational indicators reflect the success of these efforts, as more than 1.4 million passengers were served through the country’s airports during the period from 1 to 12 March 2026, which reflects the ability of the country’s aviation system to deal efficiently with various circumstances and maintain the smooth flow of travel. His Excellency stressed that the aviation sector in the UAE is moving steadily towards restoring normal operating rates, in light of continuous coordination with sector partners and partners from neighboring countries, in addition to regional and international partners to ensure the continuity of air traffic efficiently and safely.
For his part, His Excellency Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director General of the General Authority of Civil Aviation, confirmed that the air transport system in the UAE continues to work with high efficiency to ensure the continuity of travel and passenger service, within the framework of an organized operational plan that takes into account operational data and safety and security requirements.
His Excellency explained that the skies of the UAE recorded 7,839 air movements during the period from 1 to 12 March, which reflects the success of the efforts made to restart air traffic gradually and orderly, and that national carriers have begun to restore a large part of their operational operations, as indicators indicate that the total operational operations of the national carriers of the UAE amounted to about 44.6% of the total operating levels that existed before the current tensions, which reflects the ability of UAE airlines to restore normal operating rates for flights. Gradually.
The General Authority of Civil Aviation confirmed its appreciation for the cooperation of passengers and their commitment to the instructions and guidelines issued by the competent authorities, which contributed to enhancing the smooth flow of movement inside airports during this stage.
The authority also called on travelers to follow the latest updates issued by airline companies, and to check the status and timing of flights before heading to airports, in order to help facilitate travel procedures and avoid any unnecessary waiting periods.
