Sherine Daibes wins an award "Variety" International Red Sea Festival

Palestinian director Sherine Daibes was crowned with an award "Variety International for the pioneering director" In the heart of historic Jeddah, as part of the activities of the fifth session For the Red Sea International Film Festival, in a global honor that celebrates her epic film “What Remains of You” and her influential cinematic career.
This coronation, which continues until December 13, confirms the festival’s status as a global incubator platform for talents with exceptional visions that transcend cultural boundaries, and whose works turn into Visual references inspiring for emerging cinematic generations.
Excellence in telling human stories
This award is given to filmmakers who have a unique directorial imprint and the ability to tell deeply human stories, which Daibes embodied in her latest film, which she wrote, produced and directed this year.
The film “What Remains of You” documents, through a historical dramatic treatment, the diaspora journey and the resilience of a Palestinian family spanning three generations between the years 1948 and 2022, to paint a panoramic picture of the Nakba, displacement, and the flame of hope that never goes out.
