Moroccan authorities: The death toll from floods in the city of Safi has risen to 21 people

Dozens of people were killed as a result of torrential rains and floods resulting from heavy thunderstorms in the city of Safi, western Morocco.
The Moroccan authorities said, in a statement, that the exceptional floods claimed the lives of at least 21 people and injured more than 32 others in the coastal province of Safi overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.
The authorities explained that the heavy rain, which lasted for one hour, led to the submergence of about 70 homes and shops with water, the sweeping away of 10 cars, and the cutting off of many roads in the city of Safi and its suburbs.
