Thousands of Austrians demonstrate in Vienna
Several thousand Austrians who are opposed to the government’s austerity policies, today, Tuesday, organized a massive demonstration in central Vienna warning against the demolition of social benefits in the country.
Leftist parties and many Arab communities in Austria participated in the demonstration, which carried the slogan “Resisting austerity and solidarity against social cuts,” and the demonstrators demanded higher wages to combat inflation, threatened a general strike, and also warned of a reduction in social assistance scheduled for the beginning of the year.
