Various heritage events and competitions at the third Al Yasat Festival

Al Dhafra, 19 December / WAM / Al Yasat Festival, in its third session, organized by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, and the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, in a strategic partnership with the Emirates Council for Balanced Development, will witness a variety of marine, sports and heritage events and competitions.
The festival’s activities are held during Friday, Saturday and Sunday of each week and continue until next Sunday at the seafront of Al Selaa City in the Al Dhafra region in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
Through its activities, the festival provides an integrated community and entertainment experience for the people of Al Selaa City and the Al Dhafra region that enhances the presence of heritage and contributes to preserving the national identity, most notably the Al Qafai race for sailboats, “class of 22 feet,” which begins the day after tomorrow, “Sunday,” and the Al Yasat Shaari fishing championship, carrom and domino competitions, beach volleyball, beach soccer, the most beautiful heritage costume, folk games, and cooking.
In its first week, the festival organized a number of events, including the Al Yasat Sailing Race (60-foot category), swimming and men’s championships, running competitions, bicycle racing, and other events.
The festival includes a popular market that includes a number of productive families, through which Emirati heritage products, traditional industries, popular foods, and traditional handicrafts are presented. The festival also presents daily performances by folk arts groups, and daily competitions and prizes for visitors on the stage.
The Al Yasat Festival aims to highlight Emirati heritage and enhance the role of traditional marine sports in society, in addition to promoting coastal cities and Emirati islands and supporting tourism activity and economic development in the Al Dhafra region.
