The winning projects of “Emirates Rain Enhancement” focus on providing innovative solutions to water scarcity

The President of the World Meteorological Organization and Director-General of the National Center of Meteorology, Dr. Abdullah Al Mandoos, affirmed support for innovative research projects that enhance the ability of societies to face the challenges of climate change and ensure the sustainability of water resources globally.
He added – on the occasion of the upcoming announcement of the Emirates Research Program for Rain Enhancement Science, affiliated with the National Center of Meteorology, about the three winners in its sixth research session next January – that the sixth session, since its launch during the Seventh International Forum on Rain Enhancement, has received wide attention from the scientific community and global research institutions, which reflects the importance of this grant in developing innovative solutions to address the water scarcity crisis, considering that research investment in this field confirms the UAE’s commitment to supporting international efforts aimed at ensuring water security for current and future generations, and enhancing adaptation strategies. climate worldwide.
For her part, Director of the Emirates Research Program for Rain Enhancement Science, Director of the Research and Weather Improvement Department at the National Center of Meteorology, Alia Al Mazrouei, said that the winning research proposals reflect the strategic direction of the program to continue supporting the wheel of development and innovation in rain enhancement research.
The research areas that the winning projects will focus on aim to develop the next generation of cloud seeding technologies to meet the growing challenges in the field of global water security. These areas include developing new and advanced pollination materials, applying innovative techniques to deliver them to the clouds, studying local climate interventions, such as managing solar radiation, while taking advantage of local weather conditions to enhance cloud formation and rainfall, in addition to developing advanced models and software for making decisions related to implementing rain seeding operations in real time, including data assimilation and machine learning techniques, to improve forecasting and increase efficiency. Operations.
