The United States imposes sanctions on the Cuban president and members of the Castro family

The United States announced the imposition of sanctions on Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel and some members of his family, in addition to a number of members of the Castro family, as Washington intensifies its pressure on the island.
The list of those subject to the sanctions includes the son and grandson of former President Raul Castro (95 years old), whom Washington brought charges against last month in connection with the shooting down of two civilian aircraft in 1996, and vowed to imprison him in the United States.
