A 4.8 magnitude earthquake strikes off the coast of Azerbaijan


Hit An earthquake measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale today, The Caspian Sea off Azerbaijani coasts.

The Seismic Services Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan explained that the earthquake occurred this morning and its epicenter was at a depth of 70 kilometers.

It is noteworthy that the Caspian Sea overlooks five countries: Russia, Iran, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan, and the Caspian Sea suffers from a constant shrinking of its area, due to evaporation and the decrease in the amount of river water that flows into it.
