The UAE welcomes the agreement to exchange prisoners and detainees in Yemen

The United Arab Emirates welcomed the agreement signed in the Omani capital, Muscat, regarding the exchange of prisoners and detainees in Yemen, which represents an important humanitarian step that contributes to alleviating human suffering and enhances efforts aimed at supporting stability in Yemen and the region.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs appreciated the efforts made by the sisterly Sultanate of Oman in hosting and facilitating the negotiations, and the cooperation of the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in addition to the important role played by the Office of the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Yemen and the International Committee of the Red Cross, stressing that this humanitarian agreement constitutes a step towards building confidence and creating conditions for peace.

The Ministry affirmed the UAE’s firm support for all regional and international efforts aimed at reaching a comprehensive and sustainable political solution that ends the crisis and puts an end to the human suffering experienced by the brotherly Yemeni people, in a way that meets their legitimate aspirations for security, stability and development.
