Abu Dhabi Sports organizes an event " Cyber Run and Ride" Next January
Abu Dhabi, December 26 / WAM / The Abu Dhabi Sports Council announced the organization of the “Cyber Run and Ride” community sports event competitions on January 17 and 18, sponsored by the Cyber Security Council, and will include running and cycling races, within the framework of supporting an active and healthy lifestyle, and enhancing awareness of technology and digital security.
The event will be held within a village designated for the event, which includes community activities and various interactive experiences, aiming to enhance the participation of various segments of society and create an environment that combines sports and technical knowledge in an enthusiastic and safe atmosphere.
There is an option to participate in the running races held on January 17, 2026 for the half marathon, 10 km, 5 km, and 2.5 km distances, while participation in the cycling tours was approved in an untimed system on January 18, 2026.
His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Al Kuwaiti, Chairman of the Cyber Security Council of the UAE Government, stressed that the event comes from the belief that the conscious family and the mentally and physically sound individual constitute the first line of defense in the face of accelerating digital challenges, noting that criminal gangs are now exploiting cyberspace and social media to target youth and children in deceptive methods, requiring integrated family and community awareness.
He added that the event is not just a sporting event, but rather an awareness message that highlights the importance of adopting healthy lifestyles and filling free time with positive activities, as this has a major role in protecting individuals from falling into the clutches of cybercrimes or being led by drug dealers electronically.
Al-Kuwaiti pointed out that physical and mental health are closely linked to digital security, as physical activity contributes to enhancing concentration, raising the level of awareness, and building a balanced personality capable of distinguishing between correct behaviors and dangerous practices in the digital world.
His Excellency Arif Hamad Al Awani, Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, confirmed that organizing the event is in line with the Council’s vision of promoting community sports, and said: “Through (Cyber Run and Ride), we seek to encourage community members to practice physical activity, and to provide an integrated sports experience that combines entertainment and awareness, to achieve many goals, including enhancing the quality of life of community members in Abu Dhabi.”
He added: “The partnership with the Cybersecurity Council in the upcoming event comes in conjunction with the announcement of 2026 as the Year of the Family in order to advance the goals of the national agenda for the growth of the Emirati family, in addition to strengthening the awareness of the UAE community, including citizens and residents, of the importance of maintaining family cohesion and strong family relations that unite family members, as they are the basic pillar on which a strong and prosperous society is built.”
