$855.6 billion ETF market size in China

BEIJING, December 28, 2017 (WAM) – The total volume of ETFs in China reached a record high of 6.02 trillion yuan (about $855.6 billion), an increase of more than 2.2 trillion yuan compared to the end of last year.

Data issued by Choice, a company specializing in providing financial information, showed that large ETFs witnessed rapid growth. The number of funds managing more than 10 billion yuan has risen to more than 120 funds, compared to only 66 funds at the end of last year.

China launched its first exchange-traded fund in 2004, and the market has expanded rapidly in recent years; The total assets of ETFs exceeded 4 trillion yuan last April, and reached more than 5 trillion yuan last August.
