More than 2.8 million passengers used public transportation on New Year’s Eve 2026

The Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai transported more than 2.8 million passengers during the New Year celebrations in 2026, achieving a growth in the number of passengers by more than 13%, compared to the previous year, which recorded more than 2.5 million passengers, within an integrated traffic and operational plan that included managing and organizing traffic movement and implementing temporary road closures in the emirate, in direct coordination with the Dubai Events Insurance Committee, and strategic entities and partners, reflecting the readiness and efficiency of the system. Its ability to ensure smooth transportation and public safety, and enhances Dubai’s position as a global destination capable of managing the largest events according to the highest standards.
The number of users of public transportation, taxis, electronic reservations, and shared transportation during the celebration of New Year’s Eve 2026 reached more than two million 836 thousand and 859 passengers, an increase of 13% over the number of passengers on New Year’s Eve last year 2025, which reached two million 502 thousand and 474 passengers.
While the metro, with its red and green lines, was used by 1,249,636 passengers, while the tram carried 58,52 passengers, while the number of passengers on public buses and on-call buses this night reached 503,264 passengers.
Taxis transported 661,538 passengers. Various types of marine transport transported 76,745 passengers.
Electronic reservation vehicles transported 286,135 passengers, and shared transportation vehicles transported 1,489 passengers. !
The authority confirmed that the approved traffic and operational plan contributed to ensuring the smooth and safe movement of the public to the celebration sites, within the framework of integrated coordination with the concerned authorities and strategic partners in the emirate.
