The United Nations condemns the adoption of amendments to the Law on Cessation of UNRWA Operations
The Secretary-General of the United Nations condemned the adoption of yesterday made amendments to the law ceasing operations of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (
Spokesman for the Secretary-General, Stephane Dujarric, confirmed in a press statement that these amendments seek to further hinder UNRWA’s ability to work and implement its assigned activities.
Support for UNRWA
He stressed that UNRWA is an integral part of , and that the Convention on the Privileges and Immunities of the United Nations still applies to UNRWA, its property, assets, officials and employees.
The Secretary-General reaffirmed his support for UNRWA, which plays an indispensable role in serving the Palestinian people in Gaza and other parts of the region.
