Cancellation of the “passport card” at all airports in Egypt

The Egyptian authorities announced the suspension of the so-called “passport card” at all airports, which is the form that travelers were required to fill out when entering or leaving the country. The Minister of Civil Aviation, Pilot Sameh Al-Hanafi, explained that the decision comes within the procedures for developing the travel system at Egyptian airports.

During television statements, the minister indicated that implementation of the decision will begin at the end of this January, stressing that the step aims to simplify arrival and departure procedures, and reduce crowding in front of passport control counters, thus contributing to reducing waiting time for travelers.

He added that canceling paper forms represents part of a comprehensive plan to improve the level of services provided to citizens and tourists, as the electronic data recorded in passports will be relied entirely on, instead of traditional systems that required manual information entry.
