Declared Greenland’s Foreign Minister Vivian Motzfeldt on Tuesday said that Greenland and Denmark requested an urgent meeting with the US Secretary of State Marco Rubio to discuss Donald Trump’s recent statements regarding his intention to annex the Arctic Island.
Motzfeldt wrote on her Facebook page "The meeting aims to discuss the important statements made by the United States regarding Greenland".
She added "So far, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has not been able to meet with the Greenlandic government, although the Greenlandic and Danish governments have repeatedly requested a foreign minister-level meeting throughout 2025."

This announcement comes in conjunction with a meeting in the Danish Parliament between the Danish government and the Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee to discuss the relationship between the Kingdom of Denmark, which includes the Danish mainland, the Faroe Islands and Greenland, and the United States.
Earlier Tuesday, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain and the United Kingdom issued a joint statement in which they expressed their support for Denmark in the face of Donald Trump’s claims. In Greenland.
