Free treatment for citizens and a wide segment of residents represents a consistent approach in the Emirates

The Minister of Health and Community Protection, Ahmed bin Ali Al-Sayegh, confirmed that the issue of issuing the health insurance law is a top priority within the agenda of the Ministry of Health and Community Protection and the Council of Ministers, based on the keenness to enhance the health of citizens and ensure the sustainability of the health services provided to them, stressing that the Ministry, and in awareness of the importance of developing the health insurance system, has, in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance, prepared a draft health insurance law,

He explained, in his response to a parliamentary question during today’s session of the Federal National Council, about the Ministry’s efforts to issue the health insurance system for citizens: “The stages of issuing the law are being followed up with the competent authorities, in preparation for taking the necessary measures to implement it in accordance with the approved frameworks, stressing that the free provision of treatment in the UAE for citizens, and for a wide segment of residents, represents a consistent and clear approach, and enjoys direct sponsorship from the wise leadership.”.

Al-Sayegh stressed that the delay in issuing the law does not mean in any way that citizens will be affected by the costs of treatment or that they will be burdened with additional financial burdens, pointing out that the state continues its commitment to providing integrated, high-quality health services through government sector hospitals, indicating that the Ministry of Health and Community Protection continues to work on developing the treatment system on an ongoing basis, whether through health centers or general and specialized hospitals, and in keeping with the best international practices, within the framework of the ministry’s direct supervision and its keenness to improve the quality of health care in the country..
