Dubai Roads completes traffic expansion work on Al Warqa Street 1 in both directions

The Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai has completed the traffic expansion work on Al Warqa Street 1 in both directions, from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road to Ras Al Khor Street, with a total length of 7 km, which included converting 4 roundabouts into intersections controlled by smart traffic lights, which contributes to improving the flow of traffic by up to 30%.

The works included the construction of advanced rainwater drainage networks with a total length of 6,600 linear metres, the installation of 324 poles equipped with modern street lighting systems, in addition to the construction of 111 new parking lots, and the implementation of sidewalk paths with a total area of ​​41,000 square metres.

Hamad Al Shehhi, Director of the Roads Department at the Traffic and Roads Agency at the Roads and Transport Authority, said that this project comes as a continuation of what the Authority accomplished in June 2025, when it implemented an entrance and exit to the Al Warqa area directly from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, to facilitate the process of entry and exit to and from the area, in addition to traffic improvement works on Street 13 in the Al Warqa 1 area, with a length of about 8 km in both directions, to serve the people of Al Warqa and schoolgoers, as part of the project to develop the internal road network in Area.

He added that the Authority confirms its firm commitment to developing an integrated infrastructure that includes a network of roads, lighting, and rainwater drainage systems, in line with the goals of population and urban expansion in the Emirate of Dubai, and meets the residents’ aspirations for an advanced urban environment, which contributes to supporting Dubai’s vision as a smart and prosperous city that places the quality of life and the happiness of its residents at the top of its priorities.

He explained that the development projects currently being implemented by the authority in the Al Warqaa region include developing the internal road network in the third and fourth Al Warqaa regions, and include paving roads and creating pedestrian paths, sidewalks and parking lots for vehicles, in addition to implementing bicycle paths to enhance connectivity with paths in neighboring areas and support alternative and sustainable means of transportation.
