The media is the first line of defense for the constants and image of the nation

Chairman of the National Media Authority, Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed, confirmed that the vision of the wise leadership of the UAE has established strong foundations for the Emirati identity and the values of citizenship, which today represent a basic reference for all the people of the country during their dealings in all circumstances and locations.
Abdullah Al Hamed said that the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, “may God protect him,” constitutes a beacon for the people of the nation in the digital space, where every citizen represents an extraordinary ambassador for the values and principles of the Emirates, and his first mission is to enhance the reputation of this good land that has never been known except for peace, creating the future, and construction, stressing that our compass is always the distinctive frameworks of the Emirati personality set by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, “may God protect him,” and represented by the morals of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, “may God rest his soul,” which overflow with humility, love of goodness, and conscious openness to the world.
This came during a chairperson session of the Chairman of the National Media Authority, Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed, as part of the activities of the second day of the One Billion Followers Summit 2026, the largest global summit in the content industry economy, organized by the UAE Government Media Office and hosted by the United Arab Emirates in the Emirates Towers, the Dubai International Financial Center, and the Museum of the Future in Dubai, under the slogan “Purposeful Content,” with the participation of more than 15,000 content creators and influencers and more than 500 speakers followed by 3.5 billion people. Follower.
Abdullah Al Hamed emphasized that the UAE’s media narrative derives its sobriety from the school of rational leadership, which made speech a responsibility, prestige, silence power, deliberation wisdom, achievement language, and sobriety influence. It established the conviction that wisdom lies in managing situations with deliberation and balance, where reason and action take precedence over emotion and noise.
Abdullah Al Hamed stressed that the Emirati media does not get carried away by the waves of political “trends” or emotional emotions, but rather adopts “strategic silence” as a methodology that reflects a rise above absurdity and self-control. Silence, in the UAE tradition, is not absence, but rather a balanced presence that chooses when, how and why to speak, and most importantly, why to speak, believing that the noise of words quickly dissipates while the echo of actions and achievements remains immortal in the memory of history.
Abdullah Al Hamed said: The UAE believes that the most effective response to challenges is the reality it creates. When others choose the eloquence of speech, the UAE chooses the eloquence of impact. The policy of prioritizing reason and action over emotion is what transformed this nation from a dream in the desert into a global center of gravity.
He added: Wisdom requires that we do not give value to noise by paying attention to it, as the UAE allows its results to speak on its behalf. A solid economy, space missions, and advanced infrastructure constitute the vocabulary of the Emirati language that is understood by the entire world, and it is the most eloquent response that embodies a reality that we are creating with a balanced vision and confident steps.
The head of the National Media Authority stressed that the UAE views social media platforms as arenas for sophisticated and constructive dialogue, and as open windows through which we look at the world and through which the world sees our authentic Emirati values and customs, stressing that every letter written by the nation’s content creators in the communication space is a pulse that carries our values and honesty that reflects the dignity of our society and our solid identity, and it is not our custom to get drawn into sterile debates.
Abdullah Al Hamed stressed that the media is the first line of defense for the constants, the image of the nation, and its collective awareness, and the national narrative of the Emirates is a documentation of the path of truth. We do not create imagination, but rather protect a reality that some are trying to distort due to the depth of its superiority and distinction. He pointed out that confronting organized campaigns is not reciprocal, but rather by presenting the alternative and more honest narrative. Our strength lies in that our story is real, its heroes are the sons of the nation, and its achievements are seen by the guest before Citizen.
He said: Our first weapon in the face of systematic campaigns is reliability. The Emirati truth is solid enough to destroy any funded agendas, and the reality on the ground is the most eloquent media response, and our role is to fortify societal awareness to be the first line of defense. A conscious society realizes the goals of biased campaigns and transforms them from targeting attempts into opportunities to enhance national cohesion.
Abdullah Al Hamed stressed that the UAE is working to protect the image and values of the UAE without any restriction of freedom. Media regulation is the infrastructure for intellectual safety, which sets a fence that protects the truth from tampering, and ensures that our media platforms remain platforms for construction and not shovels for demolition, without setting any limits to creativity.
The head of the National Media Authority added that media regulation is not a tool of censorship or restrictions, but rather a governance framework that guarantees professionalism and responsibility, and a means to ensure the sustainability of credibility and support content creators capable of faithfully representing the values of the Emirates. Media freedom and national responsibility are two sides of the same coin. There is no freedom without awareness, and there is no real media without a moral compass that protects it from slipping into the trap of rumors. He pointed out that the presence of clear regulatory frameworks gives the media a wider space for responsible expression, and that the balance between freedom and responsibility is what turns the media into a national force.
Regarding the digital space and the influence of new media, Abdullah Al Hamed said: Today’s content makers are our digital ambassadors and they are the guardians of the image of a nation that only accepts first place in morals as well as in numbers, and the question here is not who tells our story? But in what spirit is it narrated? We want the UAE’s story to be told in the language of hope, achievement, and tolerance.
Abdullah Al Hamed added: Digital media has become a partner in shaping global awareness, and the word in the digital space is a heavy trust. Every letter published is either a brick in the wall of national reputation or a hole in it, and national responsibility requires that our pens be shovels of construction, not tools of demolition, and real impact does not require noise. What is required is a speech that dialogues with the mind and stems from a deep belief in values. The UAE is a country that works silently, achieves with confidence, and builds the future wisely… and the media is a partner in this message.
Abdullah Al Hamed concluded his session by talking about the foundations of the national narrative, saying: Our narrative is based on a solid foundation of unity and stability, and places the human being at the center of development and the essence of the bet is on the quality of life and future leadership. We are a country that is not satisfied with achievement, but rather makes it its language and the criterion for its success on the ground. This narrative reflects our national identity, which is open to the world and adheres to the principles of peace and coexistence, and establishes our humanitarian mission as an integral part of our identity, supported by a balanced foreign policy and international partnerships based on mutual respect, so that we move with confident steps towards space and technology leadership, transforming sustainable development from an economic approach to a global civilizational message.
