"source" It showcases its projects in Central Asia during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week

ABU DHABI, 14 JANUARY / WAM / Maryam Al Mazrouei, Head of Business Recycling in the Central Asia Region at Masdar, confirmed that the company’s participation in Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week coincides with Masdar’s celebration of the twentieth anniversary of its founding, noting that the company was able to achieve a production capacity of approximately 65 gigawatts by the end of 2025, which represents more than two-thirds of the way towards achieving its goal of reaching 100 gigawatts by 2030.

Al Mazrouei explained that the Central Asia region is considered one of the strategic regions for Masdar’s business, as the company began its investments in Uzbekistan with a 100 megawatt solar energy project, bringing its production portfolio in the country currently to about 2 gigawatts, equivalent to twenty times the first project, with investments amounting to about two billion dollars.

She added that Azerbaijan represents a pivotal market for the company’s business, as Masdar has an operating project with a production capacity of 230 megawatts of solar energy, along with two other solar energy projects under construction, in addition to the development of the first wind energy project in the country with a capacity of 240 megawatts, which is Masdar’s first wind project in Azerbaijan.

She pointed out that the company is working in Kazakhstan to develop a wind energy project that is considered the largest in the region with a production capacity of up to 1 gigawatt, in addition to battery systems with a capacity of 600 megawatts, pointing to the signing of an agreement yesterday with the Uzbek Ministry of Energy and the Emirates Facilities Development Company to develop the “Around the Clock” project, which will provide clean energy around the clock with a production capacity of 1 gigawatt.

Al Mazrouei said in a statement to the Emirates News Agency that “Masdar” announced last year the “Around the Clock” project in Abu Dhabi, which is currently being implemented, noting that developing the same project in Uzbekistan will contribute to supporting the country’s goals in the fields of sustainable development and renewable energy.

It also announced the financial close of the “Ghazr” project, a solar energy project in Uzbekistan, in a move that reflects the company’s continued progress in expanding its global clean energy portfolio.
