Including 4 Arab countries.. America suspends the issuance of visas to 75 countries as of January 21

The US State Department announced the suspension of all visa issuance procedures for citizens of 75 countries, as of January 21, as part of tightening control over applicants who may pose a burden on the social welfare system in the United States, according to what was reported by Fox News.

According to an internal memorandum, the ministry directed consular employees to temporarily reject visa applications until a comprehensive review of examination and audit procedures was completed.

The list includes several countries, most notably: Somalia, Russia, Afghanistan, Brazil, Iran, Iraq, Egypt, Nigeria, Thailand, and Yemen.

The decision is based on an expanded application of the “public charge” clause in the Immigration Law, which allows the denial of visas to applicants who are likely to depend on government aid, according to criteria that include health status, age, and financial situation.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the exceptions will be very limited, until the re-evaluation of visa issuance policies is completed.
