Lazzarini: The storming of an UNRWA health center in East Jerusalem is a new step in a pattern of ignoring international law

In a post on the X platform, Philippe Lazzarini confirmed that this center is a United Nations facility. He said that the Israeli authorities ordered the closure of the center for 30 days, depriving Palestinian refugees of access to primary health care.
Meanwhile, water and electricity supplies to UNRWA facilities – including health and education buildings – are scheduled to be cut off in the coming weeks, he added.
Lazzarini noted that this is a direct result of legislation passed by the Israeli parliament in December, which tightened existing anti-UNRWA laws adopted in 2024.
He touched on the recent ruling of the International Court of Justice, which indicated that the State of Israel is obligated under international law to facilitate UNRWA operations, and not to obstruct or prevent them.
