The UAE strengthens its lead in the overall standings with the conclusion of the Abu Dhabi International Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship

ABU DHABI, 18 JANUARY / WAM / The competitions of the Abu Dhabi International Jiu-Jitsu Professionals Championship concluded today, with the curtain coming down on the activities of the third and final day, which was held at the Mubadala Arena in the capital, Abu Dhabi, as part of the first tournaments of the 2026 season, organized by the Abu Dhabi Association of Jiu-Jitsu Professionals (AJP), after three days full of strong competitions, high technical levels, and wide participation of elite male and female players from various countries. The world.
More than 2,000 male and female players from 43 countries participated in the tournament, competing across various age groups and stages, including professional, amateur and master categories, in a scene that reflects the growing momentum of the sport of jiu-jitsu globally, and the advanced position that Abu Dhabi has now enjoyed on the map of major international tournaments.
The UAE continued its remarkable brilliance, as it strengthened its lead in the overall standings of the tournament with a score of 140,010 points, far ahead of Brazil, which came in second place with 42,680 points, while Colombia came in third place with 22,200 points, in a new confirmation of the UAE’s leadership in the sport of jiu-jitsu.
In terms of the academy rankings, the UAE Commando Group Academy team topped the overall standings with a total of 48,700 points, followed by the UAE MOD Academy team in second place with 22,975 points, while the TEAM 777 Academy team came third with 15,025 points, after a strong competition that extended throughout the days of the tournament.
The closing day’s competitions were attended by His Excellency Abdul Moneim Al Hashemi, President of the Emirati and Asian Federations, First Vice President of the International Jiu-Jitsu Federation, His Excellency Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri, Vice President of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, along with Mubarak Saleh Al Menhali, Director of the Technical Department of the UAE Federation, and Tariq Al Bahri, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Professional Jiu-Jitsu Association, who followed part of the final bouts and participated in the crowning ceremonies of the winners.
His Excellency Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri confirmed, in a statement, that the Abu Dhabi International Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship represents one of the basic pillars of the global championships agenda, due to the great technical and organizational gains it achieves, praising the high level of competitions and the strength of the fights, in light of the wide participation of male and female players from 43 countries.
He explained that the tournament contributed to providing the opportunity to discover promising talents and create champions, in addition to providing players with important competitive experiences through direct contact with the world’s elite players.
He added that the large participation, which exceeded 2,000 male and female players, reflects international confidence in Abu Dhabi’s ability to host and organize major tournaments, and strengthens its position as the global capital of jiu-jitsu.
The closing day witnessed the distribution of 264 gold medals, 258 silver medals, and 196 bronze medals, at the conclusion of a tournament characterized by distinguished organization and a great diversity of entries, which contributed to raising the overall technical level of the competitions.
At the level of individual results, Al-Anoud Ibrahim Al-Harbi, from the Baniyas Jiu-Jitsu Club, won the gold medal in the 49 kg purple belt category for female professionals, after an outstanding performance during the fights. She confirmed that the victory is the result of hard work and intense preparation, and gives her an incentive to continue developing and achieving more achievements in the upcoming competitions.
In the men’s competition, player Hazza Farhan, from Baniyas Jiu-Jitsu Club, won the gold medal in the 120 kg professional brown belt category, after his strong performances throughout the tournament.
He explained that the Abu Dhabi International Championship is one of the most prominent tournaments of the season, and constitutes an ideal platform for measuring technical readiness and confronting elite players.
With the conclusion of its competitions, the Abu Dhabi International Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship established its position as one of the most important stations in the Jiu-Jitsu championship calendar, due to the high-level competitive environment it provides and a pivotal role in developing players and enhancing the international spread of the game, starting from Abu Dhabi.
