Unwise.. Besant warns the Europeans against imposing counter-tariffs on America

Caution US Secretary of the Treasury Scott Besant European countries impose Countertariffs in response to the tariffs threatened by the president Donald Trump in order to acquire the territory GreenlandDanish.
Trump announced his desire to control Greenland, which has self-rule, and threatened to impose customs duties on countries that oppose him, and the European Union is considering taking countermeasures.
Pesent told reporters on the first day of the World Economic Forum in Davos: "I think that would be an unwise move"
He added that Trump wants to control the Danish region because he considers it strategic and…"We will not entrust the security of the Western Hemisphere to any other party"
Trump and the Nobel Peace Prize
In response to a question about a letter Trump sent to the Norwegian Prime Minister in which he appeared to link his claim to Greenland to his failure to win the Nobel Peace Prize, Besant replied that he knew nothing about this letter.
He said: "But I think it’s ridiculous to think that the president would do that because of the Nobel Prize"
In this message, Trump indicated that he no longer had to think only about peace after his failure to win the Nobel Prize, noting that the world would not be safe until Greenland was under the control of the United States.
Trump launched a fierce campaign to win the Nobel Peace Prize last year as a reward for his efforts in ending eight wars, according to him.
The award was awarded to the Venezuelan oppositionist Maria Corina Machado, who went to Oslo last month, on the day Next to hand over the award, having fled Venezuela on a boat.
The strategic importance of Greenland
When asked later on Monday about the chances of reaching an agreement that did not include the acquisition of Greenland, Besant replied: "For now, I will just take President Trump’s words seriously"
He asked a group of journalists: "How did the United States get the Panama Canal? We bought it from the French"
Besant particularly emphasized the strategic importance of the island as a source of rare earth minerals that are vital to a range of cutting-edge technologies.
Referring to Denmark, he said "They let the Chinese mine in Greenland, right?"
