The grant represents a strategic pillar as it is an integrated support tool that enhances the efficiency of government institutions, stimulates the Yemeni economy, and has a positive impact on improving the services provided to the Yemeni brothers by raising the reliability of electrical power in hospitals, medical centres, roads, schools, airports and ports, and enhancing economic and commercial activity.

The grant comes in accordance with comprehensive and integrated governance to ensure that quantities reach The final beneficiary, as a committee was formed that includes several Yemeni bodies working to supervise and control the distribution of oil derivatives to power plants based on the need presented by power generation plants in the Yemeni governorates.

The effects of this grant extend to include integrated financial, economic and service dimensions, by supporting Yemeni institutions such as the Central Bank of Yemen, by reducing pressure on foreign exchange reserves.

Fuel supplies

As for the level of the Ministry of Finance It contributes to reducing the financial burden on the state’s general budget associated with fuel costs and operating the electricity sector. At the Ministry of Electricity and Energy level, the grant plays a pivotal role in ensuring the stability of fuel supplies to power generation plants and the continuity of their operation, raising the efficiency of generating plants and improving their operational and production capacity.

It is noteworthy that the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen provided grants for oil derivatives, which included a grant in 2018 worth $180 million, as well as a grant in 2021. With a value of $422 million, in addition to a grant in 2022 worth $200 million, in addition to the current grant for the year 2026.
