Abdullah bin Zayed receives the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus and they sign a memorandum of understanding to establish a comprehensive strategic partnership in the field of energy.

His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, received today in Abu Dhabi, Dr. Konstantinos Koumpos, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus.

His Highness and the Cypriot Foreign Minister signed a memorandum of understanding regarding establishing a comprehensive strategic partnership in the field of energy between the two countries.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the outcomes of the official visit made by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, to the Republic of Cyprus last December, and its role in advancing the prospects for cooperation and comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries in various fields. They reviewed opportunities to support paths of joint cooperation in a number of vital sectors, including economic, trade, investment, renewable energy, and technology.

His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan welcomed Dr. Konstantinos Koumpos and congratulated him on the occasion of the Republic of Cyprus assuming the presidency of the Council of the European Union during the year 2026. In this regard, they discussed the importance of the strategic relations linking the UAE and the European Union.

His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan stressed the depth of the strategic relations between the UAE and the Republic of Cyprus, which are based on a solid foundation of trust, mutual respect and shared visions, noting that the UAE-Cyprus comprehensive strategic partnership provides an important framework for enhancing cooperation and joint work in various fields, in a way that supports the sustainable development plans of the two countries and brings good to their people.

During the meeting, the two sides also discussed a number of regional and international issues of common concern, most notably developments in the situation in the Middle East region, and the importance of supporting efforts aimed at establishing sustainable security and stability in the region.
