Washington residents woke up to layers of snow on the sidewalks and roads, with the precipitation expected to turn into ice particles later during the day.
An air traffic monitoring website showed the cancellation of more than 10,000 flights. A flight within the United States on Sunday, in addition to more than 4,000 the previous day.
US President Donald Trump said on the Truth Social platform "We will continue to monitor the situation and communicate with all states in the path of this storm. Stay safe and warm!"
