"Dubai Marathon" and"Guinness" They launch an initiative to set world records

Dubai, January 27 / WAM / Guinness World Records announced a new cooperation with the Dubai Marathon, which this year celebrates its 25th anniversary, giving participants the opportunity to attempt to set official world records during the marathon race scheduled for the first of next February.

Under this cooperation, participants will be able to choose and attempt to set records approved by the Guinness Book of World Records within specific categories, going beyond the limits of traditional sports performance, to include running in costumes, duo running, and challenges aimed at raising awareness, in addition to creative elements related to physical endurance and group participation, in accordance with the official standards approved by the encyclopedia.

Available registration opportunities include achieving various records, including the fastest marathon run by a father and son together, or a mother and daughter together, in addition to categories that include running using sports equipment, blindfolded, or using skis.

In a related development, the organizing committee of the Dubai Marathon announced that the 25th edition will record the highest participation rate in the history of the event since its inception, confirming that it is in the process of announcing, before the start of the race, the numbers of participants in the three main races, which are the elite race for a distance of 42.195 kilometers, the public race for a distance of 10 kilometers, and the family race for a distance of 4 kilometers, with the Guinness World Records team monitoring and documenting record attempts.

Counselor Ahmed Al Kamali, General Coordinator of the Dubai World Marathon, explained that the new edition witnesses a high participation rate of world-class runners, both men and women, as about 50 runners participate in the men’s race with an average time of approximately 2 hours, 4 minutes and 50 seconds, while the number of participants in the women’s race is about 35 runners, with an average time of between 2 hours and 17 minutes and 2 hours and 21 minutes.
