The Head of State and the President of Pakistan discuss bilateral relations and regional developments

Today, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, and President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari, discussed various aspects of bilateral relations and ways to enhance them, especially in the economic, trade and investment fields, in a way that serves the common development of the two countries and brings good to their people.
During the meeting that took place at Al Bahr Palace in Abu Dhabi, His Highness the President welcomed the Pakistani President, who is on a working visit to the country, and expressed his thanks to the President of Pakistan for his keenness to strengthen the UAE-Pakistani relations, which are witnessing continuous growth.
The meeting touched on the ongoing talks on the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, which the two countries are seeking to complete, hoping that it will contribute to a qualitative shift in their economic and trade relations.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Asif Ali Zardari also reviewed a number of regional and international issues and developments of common interest and exchanged views on them, stressing the importance of working to enhance the causes of peace and stability in the region and the world and settling disputes through dialogue and diplomatic solutions for the benefit of everyone.
In this context, His Highness the President stressed that Pakistan’s current membership in the UN Security Council enhances its cooperation with the UAE in the United Nations to support regional and global peace.
For his part, Asif Ali Zardari stressed the strength of the relations between the UAE and Pakistan, pointing out that the path of bilateral cooperation is witnessing development and that his country is keen to push this development forward, especially in the economic fields, in a way that opens new horizons for fruitful development partnerships between the two countries that bring growth to their peoples.
